MD-SAFETY Profile
Principal - Matthew Dando
Matt Dando established MD-SAFETY in 2005 with over 20 years specialist experience in emergency and disaster management and is well known as a high level subject expert in both the theoretical and practical aspects of emergency management. Since its inception MD-SAFETY has been warmly received by both public and private organisations who are striving for safer and more efficient workplaces.
Matt’s prior work experience includes the Australian Plague Locust Commission, CSIRO Bush Fire Research Unit as well as the Victorian Country Fire Authority and the NSW Rural Fire Service. Matt has a Diploma of Agricultural Science, Diploma of Fire fighting Management, Diploma in Assessment and Workplace Training and a Certificate IV in Workplace Safety. He is also a registered WorkCover NSW trainer.
Matt has been accredited as a job subject expert in emergency operational and fire aviation management and continues his involvement in these areas as a volunteer in the NSW Rural Fire Service.
Associate – Paul Conlan
Paul specialises in agricultural safety having had vast experience in agriculture and adult education. Until recently Paul worked for TAFE NSW as a primary industries teacher for 19 years and at the same time ran a successful farming operation.
His qualifications include a Diploma of Teaching, Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training, Certificate IV in Workplace Safety and an Advanced Certificate in Irrigation. Paul is a registered wool classer and like many in the rural sector, has the scars to prove his attendance at the University of Hard Knocks.
Associate - Jim Chivas
Jim specializes in curriculum and program development, particularly in the emergency management arena; he also has extensive experience in systems compliance and audit. Jim has considerable expertise in competency based assessment and training package development and implementation. His qualifications include a Master of Applied Research in Education (East Anglia) as well as a Diploma of Training and Assessment Systems (UTS)
